Not Enough Juice... |
"I purchased the RotoMatic sometime in 2004 after seeing the infomercial a few times. It appeared to be a crafter's dream tool, and the price was too good to be true. Calling the 800 number to order it turned into the classic dodging of the various attempts to "upgrade", but I eventually got the item ordered. It took a while to come. The drill had some heft and appeared well-made, and the various drill attachments seemed useful. I charged the battery overnight according to the directions. Ready to go! I attached the etching tool and turned 'er on... and found to my complete dismay that the rotor's RPMs were WAY too slow to properly etch, grind, drill, or shape ANYTHING more challenging than balsawood. Halfway through the frustrating attempt to etch my name on a knife, the already too-slow RPMs wound down lower and lower, until the drill was simply uselessly vibrating. Back to the charging bracket it went within 5 minutes of my starting my first project with it. That scenario pretty much describes all of my attempts to use the RotoMatic. The project must be completed piecemeal, spending long interludes recharging after its exhausting 5 minutes working on your job.
I now have a professional-grade corded craft drill that provides the high-speed RPMs you really need to complete projects easily. The only thing the RotoMatic drilled expertly was my wallet."
